On the Road to Damascus

In Damascus, the capital of Syria, believers in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all live in harmony. Muslims pray side by side with Christians, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Catholics, and Jews. The Road to Damascus is a symbol of transformation. According to the Bible, the Road to Damascus is where Saul, a tent maker who hated Christians, was blinded by a light from heaven, after which he became the architect of the modern Christian church.

Saul saw a blinding light that quickly transformed him into Paul the Apostle. Are we as a species on the precipice of a corresponding global activation of the Christ within each of us? Is humanity at large — in fact, the entire globe — on the Road to Damascus? And will it experience such a Holy Eucharist en masse — in a similar form of a brilliant white light?
