Some of us ask the question “Why?” more often than others of us. Why?
Anytime we ask the question “Why?” it is because we have been programmed to want to be in a controlled state... which means we want to know how things will unfold, why things are happening the way they are happening. It really comes down to the ego that wants to be in control, which is not necessarily a bad thing, because the ego is just looking out for our safety.
But there is a greater part of that ego – call it the Higher Self – that would not disagree, but has more on its plate than just safety. The Higher Self is here to guide us, to steer us clear of all programming in the direction of higher ways of being. We all need to trust the Higher Self, and give up always trying to control circumstances.
One of the things we are forever being asked to do by the Higher Self is to let go - both internally and externally - to let go of always trying to control everything around us. When we ask “Why?” we are attempting to reestablish control, but it also demonstrates that we really do not trust our Higher Self.
If you knew that there was an aspect of yourself beyond what you can understand that was always looking out for and guiding you with your best interests in mind, would you ask it “Why”? Even if it was steering you toward an experience that may leave you uncomfortable, confused, depressed, lonely, whatever it is, would you interrupt and question it.
The more we sense a need to let go, the more we seem to want to be in control. Perhaps it is just being human to want to make sense of what is going on. People of the world are currently being pulled out of a deep programmed state that directs us not to let go, not to give up control. But in order to change the world for the better, we're going to have to let go and trust what is going on without question, often without understanding “Why”.
Most of us are like the child in the back seat who repeated asks “Are we there yet?” We must trust the adult driving the car – the Higher Self – and know that it is going to be making directional changes beyond our comprehension to get us safely to where we need to go. So, we might as well sit back and enjoy the ride. All the doubt and worry in the world will not change a thing. Trust the driver. You are in good hands.
