Know Thyself

Within the heart of every sentient being, whether they admit it or not, there is a deep desire to know the Creator – the Source from which all springs – and to experience the Creator's love. Wrapped within this desire is nothing less than the desire to totally love and accept one's Self. This is an almost unconscious, built-in response to life itself – the need to feel whole and complete, happy and fulfilled, unconditionally loved and not rejected, a part of and not cut off from Source.

Our almost insatiable need to be loved, which we most often believe must be fulfilled by someone or something outside of ourselves, is nothing more than our Divinely inspired natural desire to love. Most seek this love of God from some great Supreme Being whom we like to think of as somewhere “up there” beyond the stars, rather than understanding that it is, always has been, and always shall be an intimate, innate, internal connection found right inside our own heart.

Some hypothesize that all of creation is the result of God desiring to experience love, and to be loved. Therefore, perhaps, our greatest spiritual accomplishment, the best that we can be, is returning to a realization of our God-Self, embracing an awareness of our Divine birthright.

There is a deeper mystery, so self-evident and simple that it has for the most part remained hidden and misunderstood. It is something that has been purposefully concealed by those who stood to gain power or control by withholding it, and by those as well who have known but chosen to remain silent for fear of reprisal or rejection should they reveal the simple truth.

It has always been right in front of us, but something we refuse to see. Time and again we are encouraged to open our eyes. I am reminded of the words over the Temple of Delphi: Know Thyself and Everything in Moderation. It is an oft- repeated message that has resounded loud and clearly down through the ages for any of us who wish to wake up and find enlightenment.

Our awakening at any moment is the gift of finding joy in each step along the way, realizing that the Divine places each stone on the path in synchronistic perfection for each one of us... on our path of return to Divine Consciousness. Embracing an awareness of our Divine birthright as the God-Self that we are, as part of All is One, is the answer to the great mystery, and the WAY we all seek.
