Present Moment Awareness

If I am to have a goal today at all,

what better one than

to accept the awareness I have in each moment,

trusting that it is just what the moment requires —

no more, no less.

Enlightenment itself holds to no arbitrary standard;

its awareness flows like water around time and circumstance, seeking the optimal level of exchange,

interacting creatively with all it encounters.

The awareness that nature provides

is not always what I want or think it should be,

yet it’s always what I need

to take care of what’s right in front of me.

Now, if I can just remember that tomorrow.
